I have never been so sad to leave an Island resort until i stayed at the W Retreat & Spa Maldives. It was the best birthday treat i ever had. The service was excellent and everyone seemed just so service oriented (and i don't mean just the managers....) Our beach oasis room was wonderful and quite private. When we checked in there was a bottle of wine and chocolate cake waiting for me. Our room was located right in front of the sweet station 2 and made it difficult to resist all the ice cream available 24 hours. We did a few dives and it was wonderful. We are used to diving and cleaning our own gear after but the Down Under dive shop spoiled us. Special mention to our Dive master Simon and Tessa who were very helpful. We tried all the restaurants and loved everything. So much so that i will now have to go on a diet.... Special mention to Marla Sabado who was attentive to all our needs, Chef Faruk and Panos who was forever everywhere from breakfast to dinner. Worth visiting is the spa for a little pampering. Nenita Cabrera will be there to make sure you get the best spa service. The house reef was one of the best i have seen. We were lucky to see turtles, jacks, etc etc just a few feet from our room beach front. What more can i ask??? Except of course a chance to return to this lovely lovely resort.

Fantastic vacation. Arrived in Male airport, met by associate who promptly brought us to the W Hotel's seaplane lounge. Waited there with nice amenities (WiFi, cold drinks, food) about 45 minutes until one more guest arrived. Seaplane flight was about 35 minutes to W resort. First class treatment from the time we arrived until we reluctantly left. Stayed in a beach suite for 6 days/5 nights. 30 paces from rear patio to bath-water like blue ocean water. Food was very good, tropical fruits at breakfast buffet as fresh and exotic as they come. 2 weeks later, I can't stop thinking about the lunchtime appetizer of reef fish tartare with wasabi ice cream. The resort was at maximum capacity during our stay, but never felt crowded, if anything, it was like our own little private version of "Fantasy Island." Plenty of additional activities available, but we mostly enjoyed just relaxing in paradise. On our final day, they allowed us to keep our room until 3 pm, seaplane brought us back to the airport by 5 pm. Our departure out was at 11pm, and the W arranged a tour guide to show us Male before our flight. All staff was exceptionally kind and helpful. If I were doing it over, wouldn't have changed a thing. Only downside is that its a long, grueling trip from the USA,... but in my opinion well worth it.

If you are a fan of W, for sure you will like this one... Great place, great retreat (villa) full of gadgets and unique things you can find only in a W, great food (yummy... yummy...), great drinks, great pool and great talents (staff) always with a big smile on their face and ready to answer to any of your requests in the best they can. A special thanks to Oksana from Front Office as well Panos, from food & beverage operations who did the extra mile during this stay. Enjoy the sunset at Fish & Sip, definitely THE place for sunset and kitchen, feet in the pool for a great breakfast or lunch. Will go back for sure!
