We travelled here on our honeymoon and cannot wait to return. As everyone else has posted, the journey time from the UK is most definitely not for the faint hearted, but we found flying over the tiny jewel-like islands on our way from Male to Villingili added to the entire experience. On arrival, the sheer natural beauty of the island takes your breath away. The cool scented towels and welcome cocktails were enjoyed by all those we had travelled with in awed silence as we took in our surroundings. I won't go into a step-by-step breakdown of our stay as everyone else's accounts are very similar to our experience. I did want to state that we had absolutely no issue at all with the service - every encounter with every member of staff on the island was perfect, and you can't often say that. The water villa we stayed in was incredible, decor and fittings amazing, hammock over the ocean with a direct view of the sunset.... need I go on...?

I can easily say that they are offering the best customer experience in the world. It's the last island in southern part of maldives. You need to take another plane and then a speedboat to go to hotel. however you don't need to pay anything extra for transfer from male to hotel if you stay 5 nights or more. The island is 100% protected and tropical. Sea villas is much more larger than you expect. The food was excellent, you need to try "Sea Salt Chocolate Cake with Passion Fruit"... But the best part of this resort is its staff. They are always friendly and and smiling and always everywhere. Real Paradise!

Shangri La was our honeymoon destination. We were at the resort from the 22 - 29 Nov 2011. We stayed in a Water Villa in Serenity Bay and my husband's request of having the most private villa was met. We were right at the end and had absolutely no disturbances. The weather was very unusual for this time of year though. Two fo the seven days that we were there for, it rained the entire day. My husband and I enjoyed the cycling around the island and he especially loved the snorkelling right outside our villa. Dr Ali's was our favourite restaurant and we loved the Lobster Night on the Saturday. We were privileged to have been on half board as everything is very expensive. Travelling from South Africa, we found $8 for a glass of juice to be rather expensive. The waiters at Javvu, where we had breakfast, were also very friendly. My husband prefers to have his cereal with warm skim milk and by the 3rd day, his warm skim milk was already at the table when we got there. We did visit the Chi Spa and had the ayurvedic massage coupled with the foot pounding and the indian head massage. We were a bit disappointed with the indian head massage though. This resort is quite a distance, BUT totally worth it!!! On the Friday we were spoilt with a complimentary supper on the beach and every day we were given romantic places to have our meals. We were indeed sad to leave but we hope that we will be able to visit the resort some time in the future.
