Pioneer Camp is the most secluded of Londolozi's Luxury camps. The three private suites have superb river views and are perfect for honeymoons and private getaways. Focused on multi-generational family travel, this adaptable camp can also be converted into a private bush home for family groups of 6 - 14 people through linking glass sky walkways into interconnected family units. The spacious entrance-halls, are decorated with a Ralph Lauren feel. Clean lines, modern and sophisticated with floor to ceiling glass sliding panels which frame the wilderness views beyond. The bathrooms are classic Victorian with modern accents in the marble, chrome and mahogany finishes. Throughout the camp there is a pervading sense of history thanks to faithfully restored memorabilia of photographs, old suitcases, silver, crystal glass and gramophones. Everything about Pioneer Camp is deeply personal and provides a romantic backdrop to the adventures of a new generation of sophisticated travellers.

Pioneer Camp Amenities

Londolozi Pioneer Camp offers guests family friendly South Africa safari accommodation in elegant suites and chalets. The exclusive suites all feature a hearth and a romantic sala (intimate covered deck). The en-suite bathroom has an indoor and outdoor shower. The luxurious suites are fitted with chandeliers and comfortable heavy wooden beds.The riverfront chalets are fully air-conditioned and feature mudcloth bed spreads and raffia inset cupboard doors. The rooms are decorated with mainly west African artifacts. Images reflect the heritage of Londolozi Pioneer Camp and the Varty family heritage. The guest area is features an open plan lounge, dining area and kitchen making it ideal for guests to interact with one another. Cool off in the pool during a warm afternoon or relax in the lounge.

Directions To Pioneer Camp

Directions from Johannesburg: The drive from Johannesburg will take between 5 and 6 hours, depending on traffic. From Johannesburg, take the N12 / N4 to Nelspruit. From Nelspruit, take the R40 to Hazyview. Take the R536 from Hazyview towards the Paul Kruger Gate. After about 37.4km (23.2 miles), turn left onto a gravel road sign posted Sabi Sand. Travel through the Sabi Sand gate and follow the Londolozi signs to the camp.

Area Attractions

Look forward to exciting game viewing activities during your safari holiday in South Africa. Look for African wildlife on a morning or afternoon game drive. Some of the game you might spot include Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard and Lion. The area is also ideal for bird watching. Some of the bird species found in the area include Giant Eagle Owl, Secretary Bird, African Fish Eagle and Dark Chanting Goshawk. Alternatively, explore the African bush on a guided nature walk. Your guide will be able to inform you about the surrounding plant life and bird species you might spot during your walk. Children can look forward to a wide variety of activities designed especially for them. Children under the age of 6 can join the Londolozi Cubs and look forward to bug catching, sing songs, bird watching and African dance. Children between 6 and 16 years can join the Bush schools and participate in Future Ranger Courses. Some of the courses include mammal behaviour, plants and their medicinal uses and bird identification.
