Nhoxani, meaning Peaceful Place, is a prime water front estate on the bay of Maputo, situated on the magnificent Santa Maria peninsula, opposite Inhaca Island. Facing west, it is sheltered from the north easterly and south easterly winds. The calm water of the bay offers superb mooring facilities for a boat directly in front of sites. There are six houses built in the front row, with additional houses planned. The water frontage consists of approximately 430m of indigenous coastal forest and bush.

Nhoxani Lodge Amenities

Nhoxani Lodge, Braby Villa is self-catering, fully equipped and serviced daily. We offer 4 sea-facing double bedrooms en-suite, one with 2 extra singles and can sleep a maximum of 10 guests in 8 beds. Bedroom 1 has a queen size bed and 2 singles. The bathroom has a shower, basin and loo; Bedroom 2 (master) has 2 x 3/4 beds pushed together, effectively a king-size option or 2 singles. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, bath, double basins, loo and bidet; Bedroom 3 has 2 adult singles pushed together or separated. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, basin and loo; Bedroom 4 has a queen size bed. The bathroom has a shower, basin, loo and bidet; All bedrooms have powerful ceiling fans. The kitchen is fully equipped with all necessary appliances. There is a separate spacious scullery with extra fridge and freezer capacity; The covered dining room opens onto a spacious deck under a large Acacia Karoo (sweet thorn) and a swimming pool. This is a generous entertainment area, with comfortable lounging, ideal for relaxing and sun-bathing around the pool. A trolley gas braai is supplied. Each free standing bedroom is connected to the main deck by wooden walkways. DSTV is available in Bedroom 1, part of which can be used as a casual TV room/lounge as well; Boats may be moored safely directly in front of the lodge. 2 canoes are available and a windsurfer for your enjoyment. Boat transfers from Maputo to the house take approximately 1.25 hours and will be arranged by the Lodge owner.

Area Attractions

Shore and deep sea fishing, scuba diving, nature trails, day trip excursions to Inhaca and Portuguese Islands, boating in the bay and around the islands, snorkelling, swimming, bird watching, whale watching between August and October, nature walks and outings to the Elephant reserve. The water temperature averages 22-24°C in winter, 25-28°C in summer. The Elephant Reserve, just 27 kms south of Nhoxani is absolutely beautiful.
