The ocean is at close hand, with the unspoilt beach of Chidenguele being just 2 km away. A wide variety of fish and other marine species live in the warm waters of Mozambique, turning its coasts into perfect fishing, snorkeling and diving safari destinations. Here guests can either sunbathe by the water, or they can take part in some of the activities on offer (snorkeling, kite surfing, whale-watching, sailing and wind surfing and fishing). Our luxury tented camp is surrounded by indigenous bush right on the banks of the Nhambavale. Not only does this calm, expansive lake serve as a very tranquil, picturesque backdrop for the lodge, but it offers our guests entertainment in the form of swimming, floating, fresh water fishing, kayaking, wind surfing and kite surfing. At the lodge, birding, nature and community walks are also on offer, with the full moon rise walk being a must! The closest village to the lodge is Chidenguele. It is situated 260 kilometers from Maputo on the EN1 (national road), just 60km north of Xai-Xai. A sandy road takes one to the edge of Nhambavale, a 20km long fresh water lake that is surrounded by indigenous bush. The lodge is located further away from Chidenguele village making our guests feel deep into Africa.

Naara Eco-Lodge & Spa is an exclusive paradise with only 10 luxurious safari tents in Southern Mozambique which are surrounded by African indigenous bush and overlook the calm waters of Nhambavale Lake. Luxury safari tents are set up on permanent structures with large front doors allowing superb lake views. Each tent is strategically placed so that all have beautiful views of the lake while ensuring privacy. Each tent has a large bedroom area and individual covered veranda. Verandas are suited with comfortable sofas, where guests can experience the outside during any weather. The indoor en suite facility opens to a private secluded garden, where an outdoor shower is found. Superior wooden Balinese furniture adds an elegant and rustic touch.

Directions To Naara Eco-Lodge and Spa

Let us drive you from wherever you are! Just let us know where you are and which way you want to come and we will organize a comfortable and inexpensive transfer! Our common routes are from Johannesburg, Nelspruit, Kruger Park, Maputo, Inhambane and Vilanculos, but we can organize transfers from any other location. Self drive from Maputo to Chidenguele Village (260kms, approximately 3-4 hours) Naara is located in Chidenguele, only 260kms north of Maputo and a mere 60kms from Xai-Xai. Depending on how much traffic you get leaving Maputo, you can arrive in Chidenguele in only 3 hours if you average 70 km/hour. So, it is a perfect place for weekends! The National Road from Maputo (EN1) has been totally remade and the driver will not find one pot-hole on the way. The safe speed is 100 to 120 kms/hour but in areas signed, the driver will need to drive at 60-80 kms. Self drive from Chidenguele Village to Naara (15kms, approximately 30 minutes) Once you arrive in Chidenguele, you will see signs showing the way to Naara Eco-Lodge and Spa. You will need a 4x4 to arrive to us, and that is where the fun begins! So, adventure your self knowing that if you have any problems you can call us and we will come get you!
