MAGARUQUE ISLAND is 1.6 Km long and 1.4 Km wide, the third largest in the Bazaruto archipelago. It is the closest island to Vilanculos, and it has a permanent deep water channel immediately in front of the Villas enabling guests to experience reef snorkelling on their doorstep. Extensive tidal flats on the landward side create a mosaic of sapphire, indigo and aquamarine with the tides, and the area boasts 2000 species of fish including the much sought after Marlin and Sail Fish. Just ten minutes by plane from the mainland, this private island offers seclusion and relaxation together with the natural beauty associated with this tropical paradise.

Magaruque Island Amenities

This beautiful Island boasts 6 luxury Villa's, which are currently open to self-catering clients who would like to visit the island. All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms with a shower (some have baths) and all Villa's are well equipped with lounge, air conditioning, ceiling fans in each room, kitchenette, dining area, and an outside deck with plunge pool. The main Villa – Cowrie – has all these facilities, however comes with a full kitchen, wine cellar, extensive covered patio, swimming pool, laundry and servants quarters. The Villa's have been craftily named after seashells to match the soft, rounded furnishings and artful decor. 2 Bedroom Main Villa – Cowrie, 3 Bedroom Villa – Sea Urchin, 4 x 2 Bedroom Villa's Pansy Shell, Nautilus, Conch and Sea Shells.

Area Attractions

The Island will initially not have any motorized water sports on site, but approved third party operators on the mainland can be hired to provide these activities - Diving - Snorkling - Deep Sea Fishing - Boat Hire - Ocean Safaris
