I spent 3 nights at Lewa and did not want to leave! Izzy and Murray were the best hosts I've ever been hosted by - they are both fabulous at what they do and super-friendly. The camp has a very homey feeling (we even said "home sweet some" upon returning from a game drive!). The camp itself is gorgeous, and unlike what the Fodor's guide says they do have "regular" (i.e., non-bucket!) showers in the tents and also an electrical outlet. Lots of wildlife, including black rhinos. I was not expecting much foodwise (this was my first safari) but I was pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was, better than I could get in a fancy restaurant back in the States. All in all an AMAZING first stay in Kenya and I can't wait to return!

Couldn't wait to share my thoughts of this magical place, after arriving home from Lewa with the group from the Salt Lake City, Ut. Hogle Zoo. Truly a brilliant 12 days with the staff and drivers at Lewa. Simply, the time spent in Africa at this amazing safari camp is pure joy. Our time with Sue, the acting Manager, doo doo the dog extraordinaire, Festus, William and Thomas, our caring, knowledgeable guides was above and beyond all that we had anticipated. The Maasai are warm, friendly, proud people and we shall miss their love of this land. Take the side trips offered, enjoy the food, the spectacular service, the vistas, the game drives, savour every moment of this magical place doing great work for wildlife. Donate whenever you can, the children especially at the local schools need you and your monies. If you want the true Africa experience in a serene, life enhancing place, LEWA is a must. Don't look any further. There is no need...just go!!!

It was a beautiful experience being in Lewa. Was able to get veeeery up close to Cheetah, Giraffe, Elephants and Zebra. Quite an array of exotic brids that come quite close. The tent and bathroom were fantastic, had never ever experience the luxury camp style living, but it was very very above classy. The bed was amazing! They have wake up call service which includes coffee and cookies before you get to the breakfast. At night though they escort you to and from the rooms, due to the obvious nature of the set up. Pleasant staff always ready at your service. Alcoholic drinks were actually surprisingly cheap even compared to other Nairobi locations. A wonderful surprise was the water bottles in bed at night which was nice as sometimes gets a bit chilly. At the time the pool was under rennovation, however they did have massage, mani pedi services available, as well as game drives. The drivers are well versed with any wild questions you may have which was great, learnt alot from them too!
