Kanana Camp is set deep in the Delta amongst grass covered islands formed by fertile eroded termite hills dotted with fig, palm and other trees providing shade and a look out for predators to spot their prey on the flood plain. The Kanana tract encompasses a necklace of islands on the Xudum River. Accommodation is in 8 large twin bedded luxury safari tents built on plinths overlooking the Delta. Each tent has private bathroom with hot and cold running water shower and flush toilet. The dining and sitting areas are raised on decking encircling a massive fig tree. Professionally managed menus offer excellent meals. The lodge also offers a plunge pool to cool off. Kanana is a land and water camp with game activities that include game drives conducted in open game viewing vehicles, game viewing in mokoros, power boating, sunset cruises and game walks.

Area Attractions

Kanana Camp Attractions Bruce Cantle, Managing Guide for Ker Downey Botswana, has known that there was a heronry in the Kanana area for some time, but on investigation by a KDB team with the help of Northern Air, they found not only the small heronry they were looking for but also a much larger one (as large as the one at Gadikwe) in the Kanana concession area and EXCLUSIVE to Kanana Camp. Bruce is busy working on routes to travel there as well as planning a site for clients to best view the unfolding scene. Bruce reports that many birds are breeding: Yellow Bill Stork, Marabou, and Open Bill Stork, Darters, Cormorants and Egrets. During the 2002 season, there were only 16 days that leopard was NOT sighted at Kanana ! There are getting regular sightings of Pels Fishing Owl and lion at present and guests have seen Civet and hyena. Kanana Camp Facilities The camp comprises eight large twin-bedded safari style tents with teak decking and private en suite bathroom, built on plinths, overlooking the Delta. The common facilities of the camps are also built up on stilts overlooking these floodplains. The area is an excellent walking and mokoro area.
