Jackalberry Lodge is situated within the Thornybush Private Game Reserve, one of the world’s premier Big Five game viewing areas. The bush around the Lodge teems with game and more than sixty species of wildlife can be found in the immediate vicinity, including lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, elephant, hyena and cheetah. Game drives or walking safaris, undertaken by highly trained rangers and trackers, offer the privilege of experiencing a true bushveld environment. Jackalberry is also a paradise for bird-watchers, where more than 280 species have been recorded.

General Policies & Disclaimers

Children Policy: 2 – 5 years: 25% of the adult sharing rate in a Family Suite 6 – 11 years: 50% of the adult sharing rate in a Family Suite 2 of the Standard Chalets can accommodation 1 child under 12 years sharing with 2 adults in a room. 1 Family Chalet can accommodate 2 adults and 2 children under 12 years sharing (2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom). Children are welcome at the lodge, however children under the age of six years will not be permitted on game drives. Where possible, depending on the number of children in-house and the availability of additional vehicles, special game drives for children can be arranged. Although these drives can not be guaranteed, they usually take place after breakfast. Children under the age of 16 years are not allowed to participate in Big 5 game walks. Baby sitting is available at an additional cost. Please note: The lodge reserves the right to restrict one night stays over Weekends and Public Holidays. A minimum of 2 nights stay is required for stays 6 – 9 April 2012. Please note that this is a Malaria Low Risk area. Both personal protection methods and anti-malarial medication are recommended.
