Hawksmoor House is a Cape Dutch country retreat located on a 220- hectare wine farm, Matjieskuil, near Stellenbosch in the Cape Winelands. Meticulously restored and beautifully decorated with exquisite antiques, it occupies a stunning location amidst vineyards overlooking Table Mountain, and enjoys spectacular sunsets. A 25 minute drive away from the buzzing Cape Town centre, the estate is quiet and serene. In addition to our guests, the farm is home to horses, cows, porcupines, hawks, pelicans and countless other wildlife. Our resident German Pointers Cosmo, Max, Alice and little puppy Jack keep a watchful eye on the daily workings of the farm. Our friendly and cheerful staff stay discreetly in the background, providing you with the feeling that you have the entire place to yourself. Hawksmoor House offers a totally unspoilt, unpolished and authentic country home experience for those who need some well-deserved rest. It is the perfect place to unwind. If you love dirt roads, sunsets, wine by candlelight, an owl outside your window, and don't mind sharing the pool with the occasional disoriented frog, or getting a paw print of our overzealous dogs on your trousers, you have found your place!

Directions To Hawksoor House

turn-off (Belville) which joins the N1, direction Paarl. Take exit 39 (Stellenbosch/Klipheuwel) and follow the R304 direction Klipheuwel. Within 1km, you will go past the "Tygerberg Zoo" sign on your left and after another 500m, you will see a dirt road on your left with a small sign saying "Hawksmoor at Matjieskuil". Follow the gravel driveway until you reach the entrance gate. From Cape Town or Paarl, take the N1 and take exit 39 (Stellenbosch/Klipheuwel). Follow the R304 direction Klipheuwel. Area Attractions

Stellenbosch, a leisurely 15 minute drive away and the nearest town to Hawksmoor House, is a place of great beauty and historical interest. The second-oldest town in South Africa after Cape Town, it is also one of the best preserved, with a mix of architectural styles, including Cape Dutch, Georgian, Regency and Victorian. Home to one of South Africas oldest universities, Stellenbosch is the Cape Winelands´ most interesting and lively town with numerous restaurants, bars, shops and galleries. Breath-taking scenery, unspoilt hikes, world class cuisine and fine wines await you. With mild temperatures throughout the year, the Winelands are a wonderful year-round destination... and Hawksmoor House is the perfect base from which to explore this area!
