We came to stay at the Hakuna Majiwe after spending 10 days on safari on the mainland, and we couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and unwind. The rooms were clean and spacious, with a lovely porch facing the beach. Every cottage was nicely separated so although the resort may have been full, you could almost feel as if you were alone. Great for couples looking for a romantic vacation. The beach was beautiful & the pool was great for swimming. The food was mostly good, and they made great cocktails. We would definitely go back!

Just back from 15 days in Zanzibar. This was the best hotel out of the 4 we stayed in. We felt in one of those photographic book about stylish hotels in the world! The location is perfect for a unforgottable romantic holiday: isolated, kind of wilde, endless white beach, palms... The staff is warm and helpfull. The rooms are clean, confortable, well designed. Even the food has high quality and a special allure (the chef cooks every day different meals). So, we got the ambience, the beauty of the island, a good treatment by the management and the staff... We were absolutly pleased with our accomodation.

I did arrive in Hakuna Majiwe by chance and I loved it. I mean, I use to travel alone, and for a woman is not always nice. But in this place I really found a primordial peace wich made me feel completly myself (and sometime it is difficult in a muslim country). The staff is super warm, welcoming, and helpfull. Manager and lodge's owner are the kind of man you dream of (and this makes the vacation even more interesting). The lodge is charming, has the atmosphere and all the comforts needed. Excellent food. It was really a great surprice! I will go back there for sure.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights at the Hakuna Majiwe on the South East coast of Zanzibar Island. The service was good, the rooms were clean, and the beach was beautiful. The restaurant has good food, you just need to order in advance or wait along time for the food to come. There are some other restaurants in Paje and Jambiani (2-3 km) that you can walk to along the beach, but walking on the beach at night is discouraged for safety reasons. Bring cash because they don't accept credit. We very much enjoyed this place and would stay there again if we are ever back in Zanzibar.
