Barra Lodge has secluded, unspoilt beaches, bordered by the Mozambique Inhambane estuary on one side and the sea on the other. The lodge is nestled among groves of coconut trees, all rooms have exquisite beach and sea views. The Mozambique Accommodation at Barra Lodge is comfortable. There are various options of Mozambique Accommodation that meet each individual's needs. The Beach Bar is a very popular meeting point. The tropical beach bar creates an atmosphere of relaxation where the best fisherman's yarns are heard. Here you are invited to gather in the evenings to watch the beautiful sunsets, participate in beach volley ball, pub games or simply sip and enjoy exotic cocktails. While you relax to the sight and the sound of the waves gently breaking on the shore, indulge your taste buds at our restaurant. Barra Lodge Amenities
Casitas: Our traditional Casitas are made of thatch, brick and reeds creating a charming atmosphere. Some have sea views and all are a stone's throw from the beach. Barra has 20 family casita's. All casita's have 1 double bed and 2 single beds as well as en-suite shower, toilet, handbasin. All bedding and mosquito nets are supplied and rooms are serviced daily. Tea & coffee is also available in the rooms. Self-Catering Cottage: Each Self Catering Cottage has two bedrooms (sleeping 4 people), living area (sleeps 2 people), and kitchen, shower and separate toilet. There are six comfortable single beds. The shower has hot and cold water. All the basic amenities are supplied including a fridge, 2 plate gas stove, cutlery, crockery, pots, pans, utensils, mosquito net and bed linen. There are braai facilities at the cottages. These cottages are basic 'fisherman style' cottages. No bath towels will be supplied and units are not serviced daily. If guests would like to hire a housekeeper, please ask at the reception, it is 200 meticais for this. A key deposit of 500 mets for unit will be required upon check in. Barra Lodge is set in one of the most picturesque areas in Mozambique, with spectacular views of pristine beaches and the crystal clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Situated 485km north of Maputo, access by road is a pleasant drive by tarred road which is suitable for the passage of a normal vehicle. However, the last 7km's leading to the lodge is a dirt road. One may fly to Inhambane, the tarred runways and airports are well serviced. Customs and immigration are available.Area Attractions

We missed the snow in Jhb and spent such special time on that glorious beach and under water with the stunning fish!!! Have a great day and I'll certainly be in touch again for our next holiday!! Great location for sun, surf, sea and sand. Great snorkelling and diving. Some of the best beaches in the world. Staff are excellent. Locals are friendly. The resort is getting a bit tired (rooms are verging on tatty, pool is not very clean, etc.) Food is surprisingly good (with the odd exception of seafood, which was mostly very ordinary), drinks are expensive (but blame that on the cost of logisitics). Unfortunately driving is allowed on the beaches, so in season there are lots of vehicles driving up and down the beach. Transfers from the airport are a bit hairy because the lodge has entrusted it's very comfortable midi-bus with a rather enthusiastic driver. At least the bus has seat belts. Bring mosquito repellent and insecticide (the hotel does not provide these). Also bring a beach umbrella (these are not provided).
