I visited Vilamendhoo with my husband in March 2012. It was our second visit to the Maldives, previously stayed on Meeru island in 2010.
We both had an amazing holiday and cannot fault this island, all the staff appeared to work extremely hard and were always helpful and kind. Lou our representative was great.
We stayed for ten days in a water villa which was beautiful and peaceful and private with direct access into the sea for swimming and snorkling.
If you enjoy snorkelling the house reef is amazing with beautiful fish and coral to see. I thought the access to the reef is easy and safe. My husband also said that the diving was fantastic and he enjoyed diving with the mantas.
The island is lovely to walk around, so beautiful, the adults infinity pool was stunning and pool bar has great service. The family pool in the centre of the island is bigger and was surprisingly quiet during our stay.
Food, again we could not fault it, great selection, lots of gorgeous curries, always hot and fresh.
Used the gym twice, there is a tennis court, badminton and a football pitch and also a water sports centre on the island, so something for everyone.
I would recommend Vilamendhoo as a fantastic, beautiful and relaxing holiday destination and anyone who has booked to go to Vilamendhoo is in for a treat, happy hols!

The journey out was fine-we did not pre book our seats but were given two together at the back of the plane. We arrived on 4th April and the weather for the first week was perfect. We were in a beach villa on the North side which we thought was the better side. The food was great, especially the soups and the assorted breads. My husband doesn't usually eat puddings but he couldn't get enough of them. Yes, the island was over booked and we had the chance of going on the 3 day cruise, which we would have done, but it was returning on the day that we were due to fly back.
However, we never felt as though the island was crowded and we were often the only ones on the beach and at the swimming pool. We saw something different every day, especially when snorkelling and on the manta trip my husband swam with the rays.
My husband also did the trial dive and thoroughly enjoyed it though it was cancelled the first time he tried due to the tsunami warning. It was all very well organised and we were reassured that it was taken seriously. All the waiters were very polite and efficient and our room boy kept us well supplied with clean bedding and towels. The rooms were very well appointed and it was fabulous being just 20 steps away from the sea. We met some lovely people and enjoyed their company at the sunset bar, the scenery there was amazing and changed every night.
We had an amazing holiday and hope to return one day but until then we have fantastic memorises.
Vilamendhoo is heaven

I visited back in 2012. I went on my own and I would totally recommend anyone thinking about doing it, to book it. I had a beach villa AI - I can't fault the rooms they were always tidy and well maintained. The food was a really good standard in the buffet restaurant, there was always a large variety of foods available and the waiters were always really friendly. The staff had already organised that I would eat with another lady who was at the resort on her own which was a nice touch. I went there specifically for the diving, Euro divers were so on the ball, they have a friendly and extremely professional approach to everything they do. I met some great dive buddies and had the most awesome day diving , whale sharks, manta rays, reef sharks, stingrays and dolphins all in one day – something I will remember for the rest of my life. The spa is lovely and recommend everyone should try it!
