Kruger National Park
Sharing a border with Zimbabwe and Mozambique, this Park is the ancestral home of the Makuleke people and is arguably the most diverse and scenically attractive area in all of Kruger National Park. It is home to large herds of elephant and buffalo. Situated between the Limpopo and the Luvuvhu Rivers in the northern sector of Kruger National Park lies the Makuleke Contractual Park (formerly known as The Pafuri) an area spanning some 26,500 hectares. The mountainous terrain is attractive to leopard and the region has resident prides of lion. Rhino were recently reintroduced and guests visiting The Outpost are likely to see various fauna and flora endemic to this remote corner of the Kruger National Park. The diverse terrain of the region includes mopane woodlands, fever tree forests, acacia thickets and some of the largest and oldest baobab trees.
The Outpost accommodates 24 guests in 12 stand-alone open plan en-suite Luxury Suites resting on a hill overlooking the Luvuvhu River. The Suites are connected to each other and the central Lodge area by a 500m Zimbabwean teak walkway.
Each luxury suite boasts state-of the art retractable screens offering 180-degrees of uninterrupted views of the Luvuvhu River Valley.
The open feel of the room extends into a comfortable lounge and an award-winning bathroom (which can be screened off for privacy) with a stone bath and open shower boasting views extending as far as Mozambique.
Guests will be taken on game drives in the early morning and again in the late afternoon which may extend into the early evening. Game drives are conducted by qualified and experienced guides in open 4x4 safari vehicles. The drives are not restricted to public roads in Kruger National Park and mostly make use of tracks formerly reserved for the use of Park officials. Guests who would like to experience the bush on foot may do so after breakfast as an alternative to a game drive. These walks are exhilarating and informative... the perfect opportunity to get up close and personal with the wonders of nature, and a great way to stretch your legs and breath the fresh bush air.
