Priding itself on its privacy, Thandimvelo Mountain Retreat is the ideal venue for small informal conferences, team-building, group weekend breaks and family get-togethers. The Retreat takes minimum 8 people and maximum 16 people.
This wonderful, peaceful and exclusive mountain retreat is situated in the Steenkamps Mountains near Lydenburg, overlooking the Kwena Dam. It is here that you can simply sit around, relax and discover yourself again, amongst shady trees or around the campfire at night, while the stars give their million dollar show for free.
5 Tastefully decorated chalets, each with a small verandah, command spectacular views of the mountains and valley.
Chalet configuration consists of:
4 rooms with king bed and one single bed
1 room with king bed plus one double bed
Communal ablutions consist of 2 separate bathrooms each with a shower, toilet and 2 wash basins. All linen, bath and hand towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower gel and toilet tissues are provided.
The retreat is serviced by a fully equipped gas operated kitchen. A cozy covered lapa with built-in braai and bar area provides a wonderful social atmosphere. An outdoor boma with central braai is a must for late night star-gazing. A third magical braai area is situated under the trees.
A generator power electric lights at night.
All cleaning materials are provided in the kitchen and daily cleaning services are provided.
Important note: The last 4km to Thandimvelo Mountain Retreat is only suitable for high clearance vehicles. Please arrange to leave your vehicle in the secure parking at the farmhouse if required, and we will be happy to transport you up to the Retreat.

DIRECTIONS FROM PRETORIA
Get onto the N4 and drive east for 217kms.
At the N4 split, after Machadodoprt toll plaza, keep left onto the R539
After 15.5 kms, turn left onto R36, after passing the Bambi Lodge on the right.
Drive 18 kms then turn left, Rustenburg turnoff (Rustenburg sign is brown in colour)
Drive approximately 3.5 kms to entrance gate to Thandimvelo on left. White entrance walls with Falcons on each side, continue 300m on durt road to reception.
DIRECTIONS FROM DULLSTROOM
If coming through Dullstroom go straight through on the LYDENBURG ROAD. At T-Junction (left goes to Lydenburg, right goes to Machadadorp), turn right to MACHADADORP +- 26kms theres a RUSTENBURG sign on left hand side, turn right onto gravel road, +- 1km RUSTENBURG SIGN left hand side, turn left, +- 3.5 kms on left hand side THANDIMVELO MOUNTAIN RETREAT/FOREST CREEK SIGN, White entrance walls with Falcons on each side, continue 300m on durt road to reception.
DIRECTIONS FROM NELSPRUIT
Take the N4 out of Nelspruit past Halls Store. Travel for 22 kms and turn right onto the SCHOEMANSKLOOF bypass. Travel on this road till you see the Bambi Lodge and LYDENBURG sign on your left, turn right onto the R36 to LYDENBURG. Continue for about 18 kms, RUSTENBURG sign on left hand side, turn left (Kwena Dam and a very distinguishing koppie is visible on the right hand side of the road). Follow this gravel road for +- 3.5 kms, on left hand side THANDIMVELO MOUNTAIN RETREAT/FOREST CREEK SIGN, White entrance walls with Falcons on each side, continue 300m on durt road to reception.
