Sunset Restaurant & Bikini Bar
The beach-side Sunset Restaurant has a huge menu offering delicious meals, all made with the freshest ingredients and ranging from Swahili specialties to Western favourites. The Bikini Bar is the place for your sun-downer cocktail, with regular parties and guest DJs firing up the dance-floor.
Scuba Do Dive Centre
On the premises we also have our own dive centre, Scuba Do Zanzibar. A PADI 5-star Gold Palm Resort, Scuba Do has one of the finest reputations in Africa and their professional, international staff offer snorkelling, try-dives for beginners and full PADI Open-Water and PADI Advanced courses.
Other Services
If you are coming from Stone Town, we have a pick-up and drop off service. Sunset Kendwa also has laundry facilities, internet access and and accepts major credit cards and traveller's cheques.
Area Attractions
The sumptuously tropical island of Zanzibar (known locally as Unguja) is a mere stone’s throw from the bustling humidity of Tanzania’s mainland. Drenched in history and typified by dazzling white beaches and turquoise waters, Zanzibar transports visitors into a world of incomparable paradise.
Since Arab traders drifted in on the monsoon winds in the 8th century, Zanzibar has clung to its Muslim roots, blending them with Christian, Hindu and other traditional influences. Early trade in ivory, slaves and valuable spices ensured Zanzibar’s place in history as one of it’s most prosperous ‘spice islands’. The island's splendid history was recently acknowledged when the capital, Stone Town, was declared a world heritage site.
Situated in the perfect azure waters of the Indian ocean, Zanzibar’s life-rich coastline offers some of the best snorkelling and diving in the world. These sweeping coral reefs are home to a spectacular variety of tropical fish, turtles, dolphins and verdant coral gardens. Fishing on a local dhow for yellow fin tuna or sail-fish can be an unforgettable experience.

Sunset Bungalows has nice rooms and good food in the restaurant. The value for money is good, especially compared to similar alternatives in the area. Thank you Diana and Trevor for a great holiday.

Hi there
Yes we back from a fabulous weeks holiday in Zanzibar. I must say that we really had no idea what to expect when we got there. The island itself is so poor and poverty stricken, with these awesome resorts and beaches. Quite a contrast indeed!
Sunset Beach bungalows were good enough for us,
We made friends with most of the staff and also had the pleasure of enjoying our wedding anniversary there - on the beach with our own romantic private table, surrounded by candles dug into the sand, fresh lobster ordered for us that morning with a bottle of bubbly on the house. Thank you Jan - you really looked after us well.
We learnt a lot from our tour guide who explained to us what had become of ZBar once it lost its independence - such a shame really.
We found the local people really friendly and even taught ourselves some Swahili while we were there - its such a pretty language!
The spice tour was very interesting, loved the lipstick tree :-) Stone Town was very thought provoking and my hubby and I both had tears rolling our faces when we walked out of the slave chambers.
Thanks Africa Stay, it was well worth the visit!
