Somalisa Camp remains one of the most sought after camps in Hwange National Park. Located on a private concession, and nestled in a stunning location, tucked away on an acacia island along the edge of an ancient seasonal flood plain, Somalisa Camp provides guests with breathtaking views of the savannah plains across the famous Kennedy Vlei line. Consisting of six elegantly furnished canvas tents with en-suite bathrooms, flush toilets and romantic al-fresco bush showers, Somalisa Camp provides a remote and intimate experience of Zimbabwe’s largest National Park.

Somalisa Camp Amenities

The main lounge and dining area are positioned on raised wooden decking overlooking a small waterhole and splash pool where the large herds of elephants have habituated themselves to drinking, providing guests with up close and person encounters of these majestic animals. In addition, the stylish décor in the main area echoes a mirage of era’s extending from the ancient tribes, through to colonial age and on to modern Africa, telling stories of the history of this magnificent continent.

Activities include game drives and guided walks led by some of the most qualified and passionate guides in Africa. With 108 species of mammals and over 400 species of birds, Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe has one of the highest animal diversities of any National Park on the planet.

General Policies & Disclaimers

Access to Somalisa Camp is via the Manga Airstrip - a 40 minute air charter from Victoria Falls, followed by a 30 minute game drive to camp. Alternatively a 4 – 5 hour drive from Victoria Falls. The camp is not recommended for children under 7 years. Children under the age of 16 years are not permitted on walking safaris however a guided nature walk is offered around the camp.
