Golf Course
The challenging 9-hole links golf course winds its way through the lush peninsula.
Many links – though not all – are located in coastal areas, on sandy soil, often amid dunes, with few water hazards and few if any trees. This reflects both the nature of the scenery where the sport happened to originate, and the fact that only limited resources were available to golf course architects at the time and any earth moving had to be done by hand, so it was kept to a minimum.
The challenges of links golf fall into two categories. Firstly the nature of the courses themselves, which tend to be characterised by uneven fairways, thick rough and small deep bunkers known as "pot bunkers". Secondly, due to their coastal location many links courses are frequently windy. This affects the style of play required, favouring players who are able to play low accurate shots.

Bowls
Bowls (also known as Lawn Bowls or Lawn Bowling) is a precision sport in which the goal is to roll slightly asymmetrical balls (called bowls) closest to a smaller white ball (the "jack" or "kitty" or "sweetie"). It is played outdoors on grass or artificial surfaces and indoors on artificial surfaces.
Lawn bowls is played on grass and variations from green to green are common. Greens come in all shapes and sizes, fast, slow, big crown, small crown etc.
Beaches at Shelley Point

The beautiful Golden Mile Beach produces world-class surf in the right conditions; the western beach offers kilometres of white sandy beach.
The north facing Shell Bay is rockier and is ideal for diving and paddling, the magnificent rock pools are alive with urchins, rockfish and other marine life.
Some of the calmest waters on the West Coast are to be found on the eastern side of Shelley Point, Stompneus Bay. Crystal clear azure blue water and pristine white beaches make for safe swimming, kayaking and boating.
