Shamwari Game Reserve, the malaria free, private game reserve situated in the Eastern Cape of South Africa, has received numerous international awards, including the Worlds Leading Conservation Company and Game Reserve for many consecutive years. It is situated in the verdant bush along the Bushmans River, halfway between Port Elizabeth and Grahamstown, a pleasant drive from Cape Town, forming a natural extension to the famous Garden Route. Long Lee Manor, offers a distinctive Colonial experience in a restored Edwardian Manor house. Long Lee Manor also has a spa. Bushmans River Lodge is a unique historical site with its 4 suites decorated in an artistic African theme. Riverdene Lodge is a restored settler's lodge with 9 suites, all en-suite with air-conditioning, Satellite TV, telephone and small lounge area. The ethnically decorated Lobengula Lodge with its thatched roofs is tucked deep in the valley bushveld. It offers 12 guests a tranquil, luxurious and exclusive getaway as well as a wellness centre. Bayethe Lodge is a 5-star, luxury lodge comprising of 9-tented suites. A magnificent bushveld-type lodge made of stonewalls and thatch, accommodates the lounge, dining room, an outdoor banquet boma, swimming pool and viewing deck. The magnificent stone and thatch Eagles Crag, with its own wellness centre offers nine detached suites, each with private deck and plunge pool. The lodge has dining deck, outdoor boma area and large lounge. All suites have spacious bathrooms with two vanity basins, separate indoor and outdoor showers.

Reaching Shamwari by road
Follow the N2 between Port Elizabeth towards Grahamstown for 65kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign on to gravel (R342) for 7 kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign.
From Port Elizabeth
Follow the N2 on the Grahamstown road for 65kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign on to gravel (R342) for 7 kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign.
From Johannesburg
(R32) turn left at Paterson (R342), follow the road for 11kms, turn left at the Shamwari sign.
From Grahamstown
Follow the N2 towards Port Elizabeth for 58kms, turn right at the Shamwari sign (R342) for 7kms, and right at the Shamwari sign.
Most car rental companies have branches at the major cities and airports. Check with Avis, Budget, Imperial, Europcar, Tempest.
Transfer Service
A chaffeur-drive service is available between Port Elizabeth Airport / major hotels and SHAMWARI Game Reserve.
Bookings for this service can be made directly with Shamwari.
Unlike much of Africa, South African roads are excellent, and you can expect to travel at 60 - 70 mph. Like the British, they drive on the LEFT-hand side of the road. Wearing seat belts is mandatory.

PRICES
All rates quoted are Gross, including VAT of 14% where applicable and are subject to change without prior notice.
Rates are quoted per person per night on a fully-inclusive basis and include accommodation, all meals and local alcoholic beverages and game drives.
Rates do NOT include telephone, laundry, Wellness Centre treatments, shop purchases or gratuities.
- A 50% single supplement is applicable to single occupants
A MINIMUM OF TWO NIGHTS MUST BE BOOKED IN HIGH SEASON (one night STAY at Long Lee Manor DURING LOW SEASON.)
TOURISM LEVY

RATES INCLUDE
All meals, accommodation and local alcoholic beverages.
Game drives in open Land Rovers with experienced rangers.
CHILDREN
Children under seven years are not allowed on game drives.
Children under the age of 12 are only accepted at Long Lee.
Regret no children at Lobengula Lodge/Bushmans River/Riverdene Lodge/Bayethe and Eagles Crag.
No children under the age of 16 allowed at Eagles Crag and Lobengula
Children under the age of 3 years to share with parents at no extra charge, but are not permitted to join the game drives.
Children aged 3 and less than 7 years old may share with their parents and will be charged 25% of the Normal rate, which includes meals, beverages and accommodation but are not permitted to join the game drives.
Children aged 7 and less than 12 years old, either sharing a room with their parents or in separate room, will be charged 50% of the Normal rate, which includes meals, accommodation and game drives.
Children aged from 12 years old will require a separate room at 100 % of the Normal rate.
PAYMENT/CANCELLATION POLICY
Full pre-payment required 30 days prior to arrival.
25% of fee if cancelled less than 30 days prior to arrival.
50% of fee if cancelled less than 14 days prior to arrival.
100% of fee if cancelled less than 7 days prior to arrival.
GROUP BOOKING POLICY
This policy applies to bookings of 10 or more people.
A minimum of a 2 night stay applies throughout the year.
A 50% non-refundable deposit is payable 60 days
prior to arrival.
A 100% non-refundable payment 30 days prior to arrival.
Group bookings for more than 30 guests will receive one complimentary room subject to availability.

ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE
Oct Apr - Rooms may be occupied from 14h00 on the day of arrival.
May Sept Rooms may be occupied from 13h00 on the day of arrival in order to accommodate game drives before the early sunset.
Should you not be able to attend lunch on the day of arrival, please inform reservations accordingly.
Rooms must please be vacated by 11h00 on the day of departure for the convenience of arriving guests.
Subject to availability, day room rates are available upon request.
TRANSFERS
All transfers are handled by accredited car hire companies. Shamwari will gladly book these on your behalf at an additional cost.

Shamwari is MALARIA FREE - no tablets/syrup needed. Walking shoes, sun hats, sunglasses, sun protection cream. Cameras and binoculars.
