Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort

Zanzibar is an archipelago made up of Unguja and Pemba Islands and several islets. It is located in the Indian Ocean, about 25 miles from the Tanzanian Coast, 6 degrees south of the equator. Zanzibar Island (known locally as Unguja, but as Zanzibar internationally) is 60 miles long and 20 miles wide occupying a total area of about 650 square miles. It’s characterized by sandy beaches with fringing coral reefs and the magic of historic Stone Town which is said to be the only functioning ancient town in east Africa.

The Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort is located on the North Shores of magical and exotic Zanzibar, near the town of Nungwi enjoying warm and sunny weather throughout the year. It is a picturesque island hideaway combining modern comforts with unspoilt natural beauty. This environmentally friendly Zanzibar Hotel is a perfect destination to “truly get away from it all”.

Set in the midst of colorful tropical gardens, with a spectacular view of the Indian Ocean. The distance to Zanzibar International Airport is about 58 km. Stone Town, the island’s capital is approximately a 1 hour drive, passing rural villages through the intriguing countryside. This ride offers an amazing look at rural Zanzibar.

I recently came back from from staying at the Royal Zanzibar Beach Resort and it truly is a "Royal Gem"! From the moment you enter the gates of the resort, you can feel and see the beauty of the grounds and sea ahead of you. The reception area, the boutique, the lush gardens with beautiful flowers, the lounge area, the buffet area, 3 beautiful infinity pools, the beach area, the workout and spa services area, the ala carte Samaki restaurant having the best viewing area of the sunset, the spacious rooms etc. The breakfast/lunch/dinner menu was fantastic. Last but not least I will never forget all the staff members that provided great service and great hospitality in every way possible. A "Royal Gem" that will always sparkle in my thoughts daily!

A great place for some R and R!

It was all absolutely fantastic. The hotel was amazing and everyone was so unbelievably friendly and helpful. They even added one of my daughter’s recipes to their menu. Sun Tours (the AfricaStay tour operator) were great although I wouldn’t recommend their tour to prison island . It’s a bit of a waste of money. The island is poor but beautiful. We did a lot of swimming and snorkelling – beautiful reefs.

Mango were great – very efficient (and I can also recommend the little Airport B and B we stayed in the night before (called Emerald Guest House). They fetched us at the airport and delivered us back at 5 in the morning).
Thank you so much for organising it all for us. It was exactly what we were looking for. A great place for some R and R.
