A warm Welcome to Limpopo the land of myths, legends, beautiful scenery and
landscape, as well as majestic Baobab trees.
The Limpopo Province is the northernmost province
of South Africa and has many attractions including historical sites such
as the relics of the Stone Age San, and abundant nature reserves. The northern section of the Kruger
National Park forms the provinces eastern boarder and boasts the 'Big Five', crocodile, hippo and
many antelope species. Found mainly north of the Soutpansberg Range and a distinctive feature of the
province is the baobab tree of which some are thought to be over 3000 years old. The province
shares borders with the neighbouring SADC (Southern Africa Development Community) countries of
Botswana in the western side, Mozambique on the east and Zimbabwe in the north. Its proximity to all
these SADC countries makes Limpopo the perfect springboard for exploring the riches of this exciting
part of the African continent.
The Limpopo Province has over 50 provincial reserves. The reserves vary
substantially in terms of size, their biodiversity importance and economic potential.
