Chobe National Park, Okavango Delta, Victoria Falls
This 8 day tour will take you from Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe to Chobe National Park and the Okavango Delta in Botswana.
Begin your tour in Victoria Falls where you can try whitewater rafting, bungee jumping or visit the markets and the spectacular views of Victoria Falls National Park. We head to Chobe National Park in Botswana where we take a river cruise to watch elephants playing in and crossing the river only meters away. This evening, take the opportunity to pack a small bag for your Okavango Delta experience.
In the Delta you can photograph hippos and crocodiles from your Mokoro (dugout canoe) before we head to Khama Rhino Sanctuary where we will partake in a game drive. Our tour ends in Johannesburg. You can also choose to do this tour from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.
Day 1 - Zimbabwe – Victoria Falls – Botswana – Kasane
Stand beside the “smoke that thunders” watching and listening as the roar of 546 m³ of water, minute by minute, plunges down into a 100 m deep gorge below. Besides the falls themselves there are numerous land and water based activities to keep you busy for a day or two prior to your tour beginning.
Day 2 - Kasane – Botswana
Established in 1968, the Chobe National Park covers approximately 11700 sq kms, encompassing floodplains, swamps and woodland. Take advantage of your time here by enjoying a game drive through the park, in search of vast herd of elephants and a multitude of antelope including the rare sable.
Day 3 - Gateway to the Delta
Today we enter Namibia and travel through the Caprivi Strip, crossing three national parks en-route to our next destination. A beautiful sunset awaits us at our camp situated on the panhandle of the delta. Please note: If you have not purchased the Activity Package you will stay behind at the accommodation during the Delta Excursion on the next two following days.
Day 4 - Okavango Delta
After arrival, we settle in and prepare for our afternoon cruise that ends with sundowners overlooking the waterways of the Delta.
Clients not doing the activity package will continue to their camp for the next 2 nights, where they can relax or do any of optional activities including fishing, boat and Mokoro trips (the traditional dug-out canoe of the Delta) The rest of the group crosses the ferry at Shakawe and transfers deep into the Delta.
Day 5 - Okavango Delta
An early start sees us head off on the crystal clear waters of the Okavango. Water lily beds and palm islands make for he most scenic of experiences. We make our way to one of the larger islands for our nature walk, where we have the possibility of seeing some of the abundant wildlife. A breakfast awaits us after our walk. We return to camp to relax before heading out on our afternoon sunset game drive.
Day 6 – Maun
Today we bid farewell to the delta and transfer to Seronga to take a boat cruise through the winding channels to meet up with our truck. After lunch we head to Maun for the night.
Day 7 - Botswana – Tuli Block
Our accommodation tonight is situated in the area known as the Tuli Block, which is a narrow piece of land between Botswana and Zimbabwe and is renowned for it’s geographical features. Upon arrival at our overnight stop, we will enjoy a game drive through the reserve, which is home to many species of animals including giraffe, hippo, hyena, zebra and gemsbok.
