Itinerary
Day 1: Windhoek / Swakopmund (LD)
Depart Windhoek and travel via Gamsberg Pass, with a packed lunch. Stop to see the Welwitschia Mirabilis plants said to grow older than a 1 000 years. Visit Moon landscape and Walvis Bay - the Moon Valley is an eerie and surrealistic landscape, made up of bizarre rock formations of red lava's and yellow sandstone's. Arrive in Swakopmund later this afternoon. Accommodation: Hansa Hotel or similar.
Day 2: Swakopmund / Damaraland (BLD)
Depart early this morning, travelling towards Henties Bay. Visit Twyfelfontein and the Organ Pipes en-route to Damaraland, with a packed lunch. The Organ Pipes are rock columns that resemble the pipes on a large church organ. These were thought to have formed about 120 million years ago. Arrive at a remote lodge in Damaraland, in the late the afternoon. Accommodation: Palmwag Lodge or similar.
Day 3: Damaraland (BLD)
This morning and afternoon, depart on an outing with your specialist guide. You are introduced to the rich flora and fauna of this semi-desert. Search for the elusive desert rhino and desert elephant. An optional visit includes a visit to the nomadic Himba tribe. (Departs with a minimum of 2 passengers, not included in package price). Return to the lodge late this afternoon.
Accommodation: Palmwag Lodge or similar.
Day 4: Damaraland / Otjiwarongo (BD)
Depart Damaraland, one of the last real wilderness areas in Africa. Continue via Kamanjab to Outjo, and a private game farm. On arrival, depart on a late afternoon game drive. Accommodation: Mount Etjo or similar.
Day 5: Otjiwarongo / Windhoek (B)
Optional early morning game drive (not included in package price) followed by breakfast. Return to Windhoek via Okahandja. Visit the Herero graves and a local handicraft market. Our tour ends on arrival in Windhoek.
