Mtoni Marine is situated several kilometres outside Stone Town at Bububu, near the ruins of Mtoni Palace, the first palace of Sultan Seyyid Said. This Zanzibar hotel has one of the finest restaurants on the island where guests can dine in true fusion style. The food is served at tables on the beach, so you can feast on delicious cuisine while sitting barefoot under the stars. Even if you don't decide to stay at the hotel, try to make a point of visiting this romantic restaurant.
A great new addition to the existing restaurants is the Sushi bar, serving fresh sushi daily.
Besides the Sushi bar, they have opened a tropical therapy centre, where they administer tropical aroma therapy. The friendly staff at Mtoni Marine are willing to offer advice about a variety of excursions. You can also go cruising around this Zanzibar islands on the hotel's new dhow, the Spice Coast Dhow. This comes at a fee though. The Bububu area is of historical interest as you'll find the ruins of two Sultan palaces as well as some interesting Persian baths. The hotel offers a relaxed, laid-back place to escape the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. We only recommend you spend a night or two here if you plan to really experience Stone Town, which is a 6km taxi drive away.
Mtoni Marine is ideal as either a stop over if you dont want to stay in Stone Town, or for 2-3 nights if you want to experience the culture of Stone Town, do not want the noise associated with the town, and would like good-looking views of the ocean and Chapwani Island. We would recommend you combine your stay at Mtoni Marine with a couple of nights elsewhere on the island.

Following a week in a resort, my wife and I stayed here for a couple of nights while exploring Stone Town. It's a lovely little hotel, with a great pool and fantastic views for sundowners. The restaurant is very nice too. We stayed in a palm court room and it was well equipped and spacious. Also has free internet.

Not the place to look for the white-sands-turquois-water Zanzibar. But a great place to breathe, relax, dip in the pool, drink a cold beer, venture into Stone Town. The dinner on the beach was delicious, beautiful setting, very friendly staff - and last but not least a very rich and tasty seafood platter. We had a beautiful and very spacious 2nd floor room with sea view, balcony, bath-tub, shower. Stayed for three days.
Nice place to stay if you want to be close to Stone Town

Very close to Stone Town. Convenient to hop in a taxi and go downtown if you want to save some money and not stay in the Serena. Sports bar for those who cannot live without their televised sports. Spa on site. Nice massages. Convenience items available for sale on site. Pool is lovely, beach is not the prettiest on Zanzibar. Breakfast is consistent. Grounds are lush. We have stayed here four times - service is sometimes better than not.
