Mtoni Marine is situated several kilometres outside Stone Town at Bububu, near the ruins of Mtoni Palace, the first palace of Sultan Seyyid Said.
The hotel has one of the finest restaurants on the island where guests can dine in true fusion style. The food is served at tables on the beach, so you can feast on delicious cuisine while sitting barefoot under the stars. Even if you don't decide to stay at the hotel, try to make a point of visiting this romantic restaurant.
A great new addition to the existing restaurants is the Sushi bar, serving fresh sushi daily.
Besides the Sushi bar, they have opened a tropical therapy centre, where they administer tropical aroma therapy. The friendly staff at Mtoni Marine are willing to offer advice about a variety of excursions. You can also go cruising around the islands on the hotel's new dhow, the Spice Coast Dhow. This comes at a fee though. The Bububu area is of historical interest as you'll find the ruins of two Sultan palaces as well as some interesting Persian baths. The hotel offers a relaxed, laid-back place to escape the hustle and bustle of Stone Town. We only recommend you spend a night or two here if you plan to really experience Stone Town, which is a 6km taxi drive away.
Mtoni Marine is ideal as either a stop over if you dont want to stay in Stone Town, or for 2-3 nights if you want to experience the culture of Stone Town, do not want the noise associated with the town, and would like good-looking views of the ocean and Chapwani Island. We would recommend you combine your stay at Mtoni Marine with a couple of nights elsewhere on the island.

Accommodation at Mtoni Marine
Mtoni Marine offers a variety of 3 different rooms and bungalows all with mosquito nets, air-conditioners, ceiling fans, electronic safes & en-suite bathrooms.
The Bungalows are all wooden in contraction and basic but good value for money. All bungalows have a lounge area and veranda enjoying views of the magical gardens.
The Club Rooms are cozy and authentically furnished with beautiful Zanzibar and Oman pieces, these traditionally palm thatched rooms are set in the middle of lush tropical gardens, shadowed by an old mango tree. Embrace the tranquillity of the island as you relax on your private veranda.
The Palm Court Rooms are by far the most elegant and more spacious. Built in Arabian style and furnished with king size Zanzibar Beds and a sleeping couch. The rooms are tiled, light and breezy and are the perfect honeymoon rooms for relaxing in your private veranda watching the Indian Ocean with its mangroves and the sun set beyond the view of the neighbouring islands. The bathrooms are spacious and beautifully tiled.
In addition Mtoni Marine also offers an Internet café and a local tour office where you would be able to book any of the magical Island tours of Zanzibar. Mtoni Marine also offers 3 shops selling not only local crafts and arts but also the basics just in case...
One of the newest and best features at Mtoni Marine has to be the new Aromatherapy Massage centre where you will forget all about civilization and emerge refreshed into the real world of this Indian Ocean paradise. Mwaju and Damtu are trained by a famous aroma therapist in Dar es Salaam and are practicing with oils such as Lemongrass, Jasmine, Clove and Ylang Ylang in a dreamy environment overlooking the ocean, something to really make you feel special and relaxed on your magical trip.

What has to be one of the best features of Mtoni Marine is their restaurants, which have gained a reputation for the best quality and consistency in Zanzibar.
The Mtoni Marine Restaurant offers a fusion of continental cuisine and the spices of Zanzibar in this indoor-outdoor dining, from the thatched covered porch right onto the beach which offers candlelit fine dining with a fusion of classical continental cuisine and the aromatic spices of Zanzibar. Venture into the passionate world of flavours with unique service and a delightful selection of wines and private collection of spirits. This restaurant also offers theme nights which range from candlelit dining with live Swahili Jazz, Seafood Beach BBQ’s with African dances and Zanzibar Nights with a Taarab Orchestra music.
The Mcheza Bar & Bistro is perfect for more casual dining. The beach bar and bistro offers pizzas prepared in fire wood ovens, char grilled specialties, their famous pepper steak and exotic cocktails. Live satellite reception will help you to keep up with world sports events, when you need your fix. And there are games and a playground for children.
