Good day Marian
I recently enjoyed a wonderful stay at Matemo Island.
The young lady was WONDERFUL.I cannot say enough about how well she looked after us and even took us to the airport the following day in her own car. She deserves a huge bonus and big recognition. She went about her duties to accommodate us and make things right from the Saturday lunchtime until she personally dropped us off at the airport the next morning.
Please send my sincere gratitude and best wishes to her. For the life of me I cannot remember her name but would recognize her anywhere. I am most grateful to wonderful people like this.
Best regards and thanks to the Matemo team for making our stay superb. Loved the island, food, management and service staff and the entire experience.
Sincerely
James Lewis

Powder white beaches, turquoise sea, unbelievable seafood. If youre looking for a little piece of paradise then Matemo Island Resort is the place for you. We flew in from Pemba in a light plane the views of the sparkling ocean were fantastic. Clear blue water and if youre really lucky you may even spot a whale or two.

stayed at Matemo Island Resort just before Christmas 2011. What an amazing experience. From the very beginning and right to the end. Flights were pleasant enough, and everything ran smoothly despite the 3 stops made on the journey. The real adventure began when you step onto the small charter plane which takes you to Matemo Island. From Pemba you will see some of the most beautiful azure waters and uninhabited islands anywhere in the world. The short 15 min trip will be spent staring down on this picture perfect wonderland

We stayed in Matemo for five days in August (Winter time, although temperatures were always above 25ºC) and apart from the day before the last, where it almost rained and the wind was a bit annoying, the weather was fine (best days were definitely the 1st and the last). When there was no wind at all, the water was literally a pool!!! Still, even with a breeze, the sea was extremely safe (one could hardly speak of waves as we know them). The food was ok; at breakfast there was the normal stuff - bread, cereals, fruit, milk, fruit juices - not fresh though; at dinner there were fish & meat courses, salads, pasta; the pastries were excellent!!! I expected more fruit variety...but this is an island; anyway, the overall impression is positive! Service was excellent, although there was no room service. At night, one could take some nice walks or simply stay outside the cottage having a drink and enjoy the peace and quietness of the island and the starry sky. I don't remember having to worry with insects.

I simply loved Matemo!!! The water, the sand, the accomodation - everything was great!! I stayed there in Aug 2005. First the 1/2 hour trip from Pemba to Matemo: amazing! I had never flown in a bi-motor before and to be able to look down and see the landscape, the water, the fishboats clearly was an unforgetable experience. As one approaches land, one immediately sees the chalets and the beach and that's really breathtaking: the colours of the water, the white sand, the chalets - it all looks like those fabulous pictures you see in the magazines! The accomodation falls nothing short of what you see on the website: wooden floors (also in the bathroom); a tub with a view; comfortable beds; Outside there's a small porch with a couple of chairs; there is also a couple of beach "beds" in front of every chalet. To watch the sunset and the stars at night was also a unique experience! I just wish Matemo continues to offer that very same quality and that everyone enjoys Matemo at least as much as I did.
