The facilities available include: 2 Two bedrooms Chalet (6 Sleeper), 3 One bedroom Chalets, Camping facilities with ablution block and a rustic shop. There are two boats for hire and canoes for guests to use in the river. The Lodge is on Municipal Electricity. There is excellent borehole water. All Chalets have on-suite flushing toilets and hot/cold showers. Hot water is supplied from Firewood-Boilers and the staff has to be advised what time the hot water is needed so that they keep the boilers warm for your showers. There is a small swimming pool as the river is not ideal for swimming. Each chalet has a braai area.
A 20 min boat trip can take guests to Macaneta Beach. Fishing in the river is not bad at all and the water is salty, but no great expectations should be created. Fishermen can use the concrete ramp to launch their boats at a nominal fee and go out to sea for deep sea fishing, diving, etc.
AIR CONDITIONED & FANS
The Lodge is not air conditioned however fans are supplied.
There are no fridges or freezers in the Chalets. You may bring your own if you wish.
CLEANING & SERVICE
The chalets are serviced daily: Should you wish to have a maid at your service; the lodge can provide you with one servant at a nominal fee per day. Babysitters can also be arranged for children older then 4 by prior arrangement at a nominal fee per pay.
Accommodation: Babies up to 2 years do not pay when staying with parents. 2 10 Years pays 50% of normal rates. Children 10 years old or more pay adult rate.
The shop supplies basic groceries and small items that you may require during your stay including candles, matches, batteries, paraffin, charcoal, etc. No fresh vegetables, yoghurt, milk etc is available unless by prior arrangement.
The Lodge is located at the river side and not at the beach front. However the Lodge provides a transfer service for their clients to Macaneta Beach and Xefina Island. The boat takes up to 10 Passengers each time and the trip takes approximately 20 Minutes. During this trip you may see a wide variety of birds and in certain seasons flamingos can be seen as well. Mangrove and reeds surround the island.
SHOPS AND GROCERIES
Small amount of ice is for sale.
The closest shop / market is located at 4,5 Kms from the Lodge, but again they supply very basic items.
BAR / RESTAURANT:
The Bar works on demand. The restaurant has a good menu.
There is no discothque or night life as such at the Lodge with exception of pre-arranged events or the BAR if you like BOTTLEBALL. You will most probably go to bed early to wake up early. At night you may want to see the wild rabbits at the Camp or watch a group of local dancers performing if there is any event arranged for that night or just explore the sky and the stars. You will experience what the Sound of the Silence means.
