Secreted deep within the Masai Mara National Reserve, the Mara Serena Safari Lodge is the ultimate safari destination. Set high on a bush-cloaked hill, embraced by arcing vistas and washed by a sea of richly rolling grasslands, Mara Serena Safari Lodge stands centre-stage to one of Africas most dramatic wildlife arenas and has a ringside seat for the greatest wildlife show on Earth, the legendary migration of the wildebeest.
Drawing its inspiration from the traditional Maasai cultural motif of a cluster of domed, mud-coloured huts encircled by a Boma of brushwood, Mara Serena safari lodge offers a rare blend of raw African splendour and sumptuous sophistication. The essentially ethnic décor also draws on a vibrant colour-palette of sun-burst colours, embellished by a unique selection of Maasai art to create the look and feel of a traditional bush encampment.
Mara Serena Safari Lodge features individual rooms, each with their own balcony and view of eternity, a sky-blue swimming pool and a spectacular restaurant, overlooking a water hole where a fantasia of creatures collect to drink.
Luxury ensuite rooms are accommodated in twin ‘wings' which radiate out from the central building. Each tastefully-appointed modular room is set slightly in front of its neighbour, thus allowing uninterrupted views of the famous Mara River.
Uniquely-presented in swirling patterns of savannah-yellow and bush-tones, each room features Maasai-inspired design-motifs, king-sized beds (or luxurious twins), lavish all-encompassing mosquito-curtaining, marble bathroom (with walk-in shower), writing/vanity unit, and out-thrust seating area.

This hotel is on a hill with very privileged views of the Conservancy Triangle (the best part of the Masai Mara park). The price includes breakfast, lunch and dinner (but not alcohol). Service is really good and the food is of surprising quality considering you are in the middle of nowhere. WiFi is available for an extra charge of around $4 an hour, there is cell phone reception throughout the hotel. Rooms have great views although rooms shape is a bit narrow.

The first thing that struck me from the moment we arrived at the Mara Serena Lodge was the view. There is a spectacular view of the Maasai Mara from every room! We saw giraffes, warthogs and various ungulates just by gazing out from the balcony. The sunrises in the mornings were absolutely breathtaking. My group also enjoyed the bonfire that was built near the main lodge in the evenings, perfect for enjoying a few drinks and listening to the hotel's guitar player. The beds were comfortable and the food was pleasing towards most palettes.I would like to go back and try the hot air balloon ride safari.

Was booked in with friends for a 2 night stay on full board. This is definitely a lovely hotel with a great character. The service right from the warm welcome and quick check -in was impeccable. The food on the buffet was superb and our quarters absolutely comfortable with a view of impalas and many other animals just beneath our balcony.
