Situated on a magnificent beach on the east coast a few hundred yards from the village of Trou d'Eau Douce and opposite Ile aux Cerfs, le Tropical, a human-sized place, is full of friendliness and Mauritian smiles for family relaxation on the edge of a dream lagoon. Guests, many of them regulars, meet at the bar or on the terrace of the main restaurant. Sipping a refreshing cocktail here and watching the sun go down feels good, as night slowly takes over the horizon.
The 58 main rooms are decorated in local style, and comfortably arranged with large beds. Each room has a balcony or terrace, looking out directly over the beach and the lagoon. There are also 2 larger family rooms, set back slightly for added privacy but still close to the beach. Their terraces overlook the garden and its lush, tropical plants.

We also had read bad reviews on Le Tropical but can honestly say that we was made to feel very special from the moment we arrived, glass of champane, fruit platter, sarong, tshirt and petals all over the bed....The room was spotless, the bed was large and comfy, the views from the terrace were amazing and the staff couldnt do enough for you. The free boat across to il de cerf was fantastic and a definate must......A visit to coconut island is a fantastic day out from start to finish and really recommend.

We've never been made as welcome in any hotel, anywhere, as we were when we arrived at Le Tropical early in the morning, straight from the airport. All the tiredness and stress evaporated as we downed fresh fruit juices, while being given a rundown on the hotels facilities etc., before going to our room !.
