One of the first Maldives island resorts to welcome guests, Kuramathi is an island of choice, offering a range of villas, numerous dining experiences, diverse facilities and, of course, welcoming and friendly service that the Maldives is known for. Located 56 kilometres west from Male International Airport, the island is over 1.8km long. Guest villas are scattered around lush gardens, facing secluded areas of long beaches or poised over water. Many areas of the island remain untouched, inviting guests to leisurely stroll along deserted beaches or through virgin vegetation.
Set in Rasdhoo Atoll, on one of 5 islands located in this tiny archipelago, Kuramathi island offers a naturally Maldives holiday experience, with unique twists to suit everyone. Whether you are one half of a couple on a romantic getaway or part of a big family seeking to enjoy quality time together, whether you would rather indulge in sensual spa therapies or spend an afternoon exploring the vibrant reefs, there is literally something for everyone.

We stayed for 10 nights in September 2011 for the second part of our honeymoon and it was by far the most beautiful place we have ever stayed! We have been lucky enough to travel to some beautiful parts of the world but the sandbank at the tip of the island is indescribably beautiful. The food and service is fantastic. I would definately recommend upgrading to the select all inclusive. Staff are extremely helpful and the island really is stunning. We liked having the choice of restaurants each evening and all were delicious. We had a jacuzzi villa but hardly used it so if I went back I would downgrade the room so we could stay for longer. We hope to return next year.

My boyfriend and I just returned from Kuramathi and can honestly say we could not find any flaws with the place worth mentioning. The resort is spectacular.
The island is considered large for the Maldives, but somehow when you're there you feel like you're on a private island. They've done an excellent job of spreading everything out, from the villas to the restaurants, so that it never feels like you're staying at a resort. You'll see the other guests, but there's never a time when a large group of guests are congregated in one place, making the place feel very small and intimate.
The over-water villas are really special and I highly recommend them. Also, the all-inclusive packages make eating and drinking in the restaurants hassle-free. The food was generally great — especially the Sri Lanka/Maldives buffet night featuring authentic Sri Lankan and Maldivian foods — and the service was friendly and very attentive.
The Maldives felt like paradise, and Kuramathi was the icing on the cake. I find it hard to believe that people could complain about anything at this resort. I found the entire experience to be exceptional in every way.
Even the house reef was exceptional for snorkeling. We also did a snorkeling excursion to a nearby reef, but the house reef was just as beautiful. We saw turtles, black tip reef sharks, sting rays and thousands of beautiful tropical fish.
Don't miss the scuba diving and other water sports, such as stand-up paddle boarding and wind surfing, too. The spa was also picturesque, as were simple walks around the lush, tropical island.
Just don't forget to remove your shoes to enjoy the place barefoot - it's part of the charm of being there.
I wish we could return tomorrow.....
