Victoria West Info
The railway from Cape Town was also lured north but, perplexingly, missed Victoria West by 12km (See Hutchinson). Though Victoria West has suffered a devastating flood and dustbowl-drought, it has thrived. South of the town lie three landmark flat-topped hillocks called Three Sisters.

Upington
Upington enjoys a summer rainfall and a hot climate. An ideal winter holiday resort, its facilities are excellent and the countryside contrasts semidesert reds with the emerald and olive greens of fertile vineyards. Linked by air and road to most parts of the country, the town is accessible, offers excellent accommodation and has a well-developed commercial infrastructure.

The region is also home to the endangered Riverine Rabbit.

Springbok Info
Set in a narrow valley bisecting the granite domes of the Klein Koperberge (small copper mountains), is the principal town of Namakwa, Springbok. Shortened from Springbokfontein in 1911, it owes its existence to copper-mining undertaken after 1850 and a ready supply of water.

Port Nolloth Guide
Dredgers and fishing trawlers etched against sunsets, clean beaches and the occasional antics of seals are made the more pleasant by good line-fishing and fresh crayfish aplenty. Fish and crayfish can be bought from the factory in season. Nama culture can be seen at Lekkersing, inland, north of Port Nolloth.
