Cape Vidal is a magnificent coastal resort set in a sheltered coastal bay in the Greater St Lucia Wetland Park, with shallow pools and rock ledges for snorkeling, unspoilt beaches for walking and self-guided trails around the fascinating wetlands, in the rich coastal forest and on the shores of Lake Bhangazi. The sheltered bay has a designated launch site for ski boats with excellent off shore angling, spear fishing, and snorkelling. The wreck of the Dorethea, close to Cape Vidal, is also reputed to have contained the Kruger millions when it sank.

Day 1: Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (L/D)
On arrival at St Lucia town in the greater St Lucia Wetland Park a world heritage site we enjoy lunch. Following lunch we take a boat cruise on the estuary, seeing animals such as hippo and crocodile as well as many species of birds including the African fish eagle. After the cruise we head into the Eastern Shores game reserve, which is situated between Lake St Lucia and the Indian Ocean. We will stay at a small lodge on the shoreline of Lake Bhangazi, which is a small lake within the Eastern Shores Reserve. This area has lots of open grasslands with coastal dune forest covering some of the highest coastal sand dunes in the world. Evening and dinner at the lodge.
Day 2, 3: Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (B/L/D)
After a leisurely wakeup, enjoy breakfast and then we have a choice of activities. Spend time on the beach at Cape Vidal with its wonderful snorkelling at low tide. There is also the opportunity to take some short walks to lookout points that overlook the sea and Lake St Lucia. At the right time of the year we may also see humpback whales on their way to old breeding grounds. There is also the opportunity to go for game drives in search of Elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo and animals such as reedbuck, bushbuck and samango monkeys as well as other species of game. Lunch can be a picnic or back at the lodge. Evening and dinner at the lodge.
Day 4: Greater St Lucia Wetland Park (B)
Another leisurely wakeup before choosing either a game drive or visit to the beach before returning to the lodge for breakfast. Following breakfast we pack up and depart.
Note:
Days spent enjoying beautiful stretches of coastline, quite, untouched, with the warm Indian Ocean to swim in and days of glorious sunshine - this is a childhood holiday if ever there was. The guides will entertain the kids with their secrets - a walk to 'bat cave' will entice even mom and dad. This is an entirely flexible program - the family are in charge!
