East African Adventure - South - 21 Days Itinerary
Day 1 Nairobi - Arusha
We leave Nairobi early and cross the border for Tanzania, arriving at our camp outside Arusha, we settle in to camp and get to know each other and the vehicle.
Day 2/3 Serengeti NP - Ngorongoro
There are many options available to explore the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, from a one-day trip, to a three-day trip. We give you every opportunity to match the activity to your budget. For those not going to the parks, take this opportunity to absorb some of the fascinating local culture. Optional Activities: Serengeti/Ngorongoro Excursion.
Day 4/5 Arusha - Dar es Salaam
Getting together again after our various game viewing activities in the game parks, we spend our night exchanging 'big game' stories around the campfire. The following day we drive south towards the Indian Ocean and the historical port city of Dar es Salaam.
Day 6/7/8 Zanzibar
A transfer by ferry takes us to Zanzibar where we will spend the next few days exploring this fascinating island with its renowned architecture and beautiful beaches. The excursion is at your own expense so you can choose exactly how luxurious, or basic, your experience will be on the magical spice Island. Optional Activities: Zanzibar Excursion: Ferry, Food, Accommodation, Spice Tours, Dolphin Tours, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling.
Day 9/10 Zanzibar-Dar es Salaam-Iringa
Today we leave Zanzibar and catch a late ferry (or flight) back to Dar es Salaam and return to our campsite. Early the next day we head away from the coast and take the climbing road into the mountains to our next camp near Iringa.
Day 11/12/13/14 Malawi - North/Central
We make the border crossing out of Tanzania. Leaving Iringa behind us, and head for our first night in Malawi. Our destination is the northern part of Lake Malawi, close to the Livingstonia Mountains. We continue a short way further along the central part of the lake. For the more adventurous there are endless leisure and water sport activities. Optional Activities: Scuba Diving, Parasailing, Windsurfing, Fishing, Canoeing, Horse Riding, Craft Shopping and more.
Day 15 Luwawa Forest
We head for the Luwawa Forest, above the Great Rift Valley. You will remember this indigenous forest region for its magnificent scenery. A hike through the forest may reward you with a glimpse of some of its secretive wildlife. Optional Activities: Fishing, Mountain Biking.
Day 16/17 Zambia - South Luangwa National Park
We drive from Luwawa Forest to the South Luangwa National Park where we will spend two nights on the banks of the river. The second day is put aside for activities, you can choose between a game drive and a guided game walk. If the South Luangwa NP is not for you then relax by the pool. On occasion in the rainy season it is impossible to reach South Luangwa NP, if this happens then an alternative itinerary will be chosen by the guides. Optional Activities: Game Drive, Night Drive and Game Walk in South Luangwa NP.
Day 18 Luangwa River
We sadly leave the wonderful South Luangwa NP to spend some relaxing time in a remote part of Zambia. This is an interesting area full of friendly locals and a walk along the river is a rewarding experience.
Day 19 Lusaka
Our journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka takes us along an interesting route. If we arrive early enough to explore the local markets we will certainly enjoy this opportunity. We enjoy the evening relaxing after our long drive.
Day 20/21 Zambia - Victoria Falls
Arriving at our destination of Livingstone, we have enough time to visit the Falls. Vic Falls offers many exciting activities. The last evening in Livingstone can be spent together as a group at a local restaurant, recounting our tour experiences and adventures. Optional Activities: White Water Rafting, Zambezi Sunset Cruise, Bungee Jumping.
