Ponta do Ouro and Ponta Malongane, together called Ponta. It is only 10km the north east of Mozambique from the boarder of South Africa. These are very popular diving, fishing and surfing resorts. Balmy nights, Portuguese wine, prawns by the bucketful and wild Latin-African rhythms makes this a party destination.
The pristine Ponta Malongane has 18 reefs with dives ranging from a few meters to around forty meters deep. To Mozambique’s border it is a 6 hour drive from Johannesburg and a 4 hour drive from Durban, and then you drive another 15km on sandy roads. The giant bush baby, birds and a wide variety of flora and fauna are all there. It has a stunning array of corals and tropical fish, whales, dolphins, manta rays, turtles and a variety of other marine life.
Non-diver's can snorkel, fish, swim, walk along the beach or simply relax and soak up the sun.
