Kenya lies astride the equator on the east coast of Africa. Kenya is bordered in the north by Sudan and Ethiopia, in the east by Somalia, on the southeast by the Indian Ocean, on the southwest by Tanzania and to the west by Lake Victoria and Uganda.
Kenya is notable for its fertile coastal region, with coral reefs and islands, a rising coastal plain, a dry region covered with savannah and thorn bush. The plateau is bisected from north to south by the Rift Valley, part of the great geological fracture that can be traced from Syria through the Red Sea and East Africa to
Mozambique. In the north there is Lake Turkana.
The climatic conditions vary. There are international flights from overseas and within Africa. There is an extensive road network and cross border buses are available. The local currency is the Kenyan shillings.
Kenya is famous for game viewing and game can be seen through out the year. Sporting activities like water and car sporting are fun; mountain climbing on Mt Kenya can be enjoyed. The Serengeti-Maasai Mara migration can be witnessed. Over 2 million animals migrate. The Great Rift Valley, takes your breath away. A variety of tribal villages, including the colorful Maasia, dot the landscape. Beautiful beaches on the coast, and numerous National Parks and Reserves can be visited. 5200 meter high
Mount Kenya, the highest mountain in the country, can be hiked.
