Culture and Wildlife Camping Safari
Day 1
Arrive in Arusha. Transfer from arrival point to Mt. Village lodge for overnight (BB)

Mt Village is an idyllic lodge situated 20 kms outside of Arusha and 30 kms from Kilimanjaro International Airport. It is a quiet lodge built on the shore overlooking Lake Duluti. All the rooms are en-suite roundavels with a private verandah. The reservations, lounge and dining room are in the main building that is a beautifully renovated farmhouse.

DAY 2
You depart Arusha with lunch box on the tarmac road across Monduli plains toward Tarangire for lunch at at the camp.

After a leisurely lunch, you depart the camp at 03:30 P for a walk accompanied by Maasai men and your guide to explain the native birds, animal tracks, and plant-life of the area that you will encounter during your walk.

DAY 3
after an early breakfast, you depart the camp with picnic lunch and proceed to the park for a full day game drive.

Tarangire N. Park covers 2,600 sq. kms in area. The park is famous for its majestic Baobab trees and Acacia Tortillas trees dotting a wide expanse of the rolling hills of the park.

To many people the park represents the features of Africa in scenery and landscape. There is the Tarangire River, which dissects the park from the south to the Northwest where during the dry season, a large congregation of animals can be found giving it a resemblance of the famous Serengeti migration.
Among the animals found there are great herds of elephants of which 200 can be seen at a time. Zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, giraffe, lions, leopard, cheetahs and hyena, The park is reputed to have more birds than the whole United States of America.

DAY 4
After breakfast, you proceed to south of lake Manyara to visit the Datoga tribe who are related to the Maasai. They are nomadic cattle herders who move from one place to another in search of green pastures for their cattle.

A great variety of bird species can be found in this area. Rare species like the Black Egret have on many occasions been spotted. They can be differentiated from the other birds by their peculiar fishing behavior pattern to feed whereby they shade themselves with their wings to attract more fish.

You will board a canoe to cross the lake and be able to watch hippos from a distance and back.

DAY 5
After breakfast, depart Tarangire with your lunch box, and drive across the Rift Valley escarpment to Lake Eyasi via Gibb’s Farm. Gibb’s Farm was a once colonial farmhouse that has been converted into a lodge. It boasts one of the biggest coffee plantations in the area as well as a purely organic farm, which supplies the lodge with fresh vegetables throughout the year. Once there, we have a 45-minute walk to visit the elephant cave and the organic farm. We will also have a brief lecture about a coffee plantation.

DAY 6
Wake up early for a pre-sunrise breakfast. Drive from the camp for approx. 20 minutes to locate the nomadic Bushmen (Hadzabe). In the company of the bushmen, you will hunt on foot using traditional weapons i.e. bows and arrows.

The Bushmen are related to the Kalahari Bushmen of South Africa. They speak the same click language but do not understand each other, as they have been apart for very long. The Bushmen live a medieval kind of life style. They do not build permanent homes but follow the animals in the area as they trap and kill them for food. They are hunters and gatherers. After a brief hunting stint with the Bushmen, we go back to our vehicles and drive to the camp for lunch.

After a short afternoon siesta, we depart the camp at 04:30P and drive to Lake Eyasi to view flamingoes enjoy the sunset over the Rift Valley Escarpment.

DAY 7
You break camp at Lake Eyasi after breakfast and drive to Ngorongoro Crater with a picnic lunch. You descend to the crater floor for a full day game-drive.

DAY 8
You depart the camp early in the morning with picnic lunches and descend to the Crater floor for a Half day crater tour. The highlands offer spectacular views with scattered Maasai manyata (huts) on the horizon and groups of Maaai warriors tending their cattle. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area Authority is a multi-purpose land use area for Nomadic Maasai and wildlife area.

It covers an area o f about 8,300 sq. kms, which takes half of the Serengeti plains. The NGO has a unique Eco-system where you may locate the big five (buffalo, elephant, rhino Lion, and leopard) all at a time.

DAY 9
We break camp with picnic lunches after breakfast to drive to Serengeti National Park via the famous Ol-duvai Gorge where the Leakey family discovered the remain of the early man “ Zinjanthropus Bosei” Game viewing en-route to the Serengeti National Park.

DAY 10/11
Full day game-drive in the Serengeti National Park with game viewing in areas where the animals are most concentrated. The Serengeti national park covers about 15,000 sq. kms. It derives its name form the Maasai language “Siringet” which means, the endless Plains.

It boasts the largest number of species of flora and fauna both in quantity and variety coupled with its world famous wildebeest migration. The worlds single remaining wildlife migration.

DAY 12
After breakfast, you depart Serengeti for Arusha with game-viewing en-route. An option instead of driving can be a scheduled flight that departs at 11:15am.

Afternoon transfer to Kilimanjaro Int’l. Air port for the flight out.


Notes

One of the World’s largest Calderas, 20 km wide, Ngorongoro Crater is also one of the best wildlife viewing areas where Black Rhinos can be seen in Tanzania. The crater at 2,286m above sea level is the largest unbroken Calderas in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls, rising 610 meters from the crate floor, it covers 260 sq km and is home to over 30,000 animals, almost half of them being zebra and wildebeest. Ngorongoro is listed as a World Heritage

QUOTATIONS/PROPOSALS
Any pricing sent to you is only a proposal which means no services have been provisional booked or confirmed. Should you wish to make a provisional booking or confirm any services, we must receive a written confirmation which has to clearly state that you wish us to book the requested services.
Please note all quotations are subject to change and subject to availability at the time of booking. If anything requested is not available, you will be availed with suitable alternatives that have availability.
DIETARY REQURIEMENTS
Your choice of diet must be cleared to us at the time of booking in order to enable us to arrange for the appropriate items before clients arrival.
INSURANCE
Clients must have comprehensive travel and health Insurance. The client also has to confirm that he/she are medically fit and have been vaccinated and are in good health.
VISA REQUIREMENT
Visas may be required to enter Tanzania. It can be obtained at the Airport on arrival but it is client’s responsibility to ensure that they have the means to obtain entry into Tanzania and know the Visa requirements for their Nationality.
It is the responsibility of the client to have a valid passport, visa, permits, vaccinations and any other relevant medical certificates plus travel documents. Should a client be refused entry to any country due to incorrect or incomplete documentation, Chimpanzee Safaris will not be held responsible for the failure of the client to obtain the visa.
LUGGAGE ALLOWANCE
We recommend that the baggage should not exceed 15 kilograms per person which will include the hand bag. Please note, only soft bags are allowed.
TRANSPORT
BY AIR
• Flights are on Shared Charter basis flying only with minimum 2 paying passengers therefore there will be other paying passengers too
• We cannot guarantee the type or size of aircraft that you will fly in
• The maximum weight of luggage is 15 kilograms per person using soft bags which will include the hand bag. There is no flexibility for excess luggage
• It is not allowed to smoke in/around the aircraft
• The pilot holds the right to not take off or land due to the weather conditions or any other reasons. The pilot also holds the right not to fly any client who is influenced by alcohol or behavior wise which may comprise the safety of the flight

BY ROAD
• All road transfers and/or game drives are on shared basis therefore other clients may share the same vehicle. However clients wishing to have sole use of a car, this can be arranged at an extra cost.
SAFETY TIPS/INFORMATION WHILE BEING AT THE LODGE/CAMP/NATIONAL PARK
• Any dietary/drinks requirements should be given at the time of booking
• Drinking the tap water is not advisable
• The usage of generator/solar will supply power at the Camps/Lodges therefore the power will be there on set times.
• Water is heated by solar energy/generator.
• Please note wild animals are free to wander around the Camps/Lodges so children should be supervised at all times
• Clients undertake all the activities in all the locations at their own risk
DEPOSIT POLICY AND BOOKING CONFIRMATION
Upon confirming a booking, a deposit payment of 30% should be remitted immediately in order to secure the booking. The outstanding balance should be paid 45 days prior to the date of service.
Please note all confirmed bookings from June onwards will have to pay a deposit of 50% immediately in order to secure the booking. The outstanding balance should be paid 45 days prior to the date of service.
CANCELLATION POLICY
All cancellation of a booking must be made in writing. Please make sure you receive a cancellation confirmation for your booking.
60 - 45 days prior to the date of service - Loss of deposit
Between 45 – 30 days - 50% of the total cost
Between 30 – 7 days - 80% of the total cost
No Show or Last minute cancellation - 100% (No refund)
