Botswana - 5 day 4 night getaway Itinerary
This wild and beautiful country is one of the few places in Africa that remains completely unspoilt. This is the true African wilderness, where animals roam freely, and visitors are flown into the camps, from where they can explore the area. The beautiful Okavango Delta is an inland waterway with a most unusual environment comprising of diverse habitats, where many species of mammals, birds and fish reside. On the eastern fringe of the Delta lies the Moremi Game Reserve, famous for its beauty and intensity of wildlife, including herds of elephant, buffalo, giraffe and antelope. Another most unusual area is the Linyanti Region, where in the dry season, you can see hundreds of buffalo with a pride of lion in pursuit.
Day 1: Arrive Maun / Okavango Delta (D)
On arrival at Maun Airport, you will met and transferred by light aircraft to your camp within the Okavango Delta. The Okavango is a labyrinth of lagoons, lakes and hidden channels covering an area of over 17 000 square km and the largest inland delta in the world.
Day 2: Okavango Delta (BLD)
Depending on the water levels in the Delta, activities vary from mokoro excursions, motorised boat trips, game drives in open safari vehicles or walking safaris. The Okavango Delta is famous for its aquatic wildlife and diversity of birds.
Day 3: Okavango Delta / Linyanti (BLD)
Transfer by light aircraft to your camp in the Linyanti Region. On the southern banks of the Linyanti River is the private Linyanti Wildlife Reserve. Here the marsh subsides into lagoons and steadily flowing rivers with riverine forests of jackalberry and sausage trees leading to open grasslands, and dry inland wooded areas.
Day 4: Linyanti (BLD)
Your day is spent game viewing in open safari vehicles. The Linyanti Reserve is highly populated with animals, particularly in the dry winter months when elephants concentrate in enormous numbers at the rivers and waterholes. Thousands of zebra spend the winter in the Linyanti before heading south to the Savuti in November, in expectation of summer rains and good grazing. The particularly beautiful sable and roan antelopes are found here and red lechwe and the aquatic sitatunga antelope inhabit the wetlands. The main predators are lion, leopard, cheetah, wild dog and hyena.
Day 5: Depart Linyanti / Kasane (B)
This morning after your last game activity you will be transferred by light aircraft to Kasane. A completely unique and truly inspirational feature of Stanley's Camp, is the elephant interaction and educational experience. Stanley's is home to a herd of semi-habituated African elephants and one can spend a day learning about the fascinating animals and observing them up close in their natural environment. The aim of this unique elephant activity is to highlight the sheer physical presence and individual personalities of the elephants, Jabu, Thembi and Morula. This rare experience is one you will cherish and recount many a time, as you recall being led 'hand-in-trunk' through the African wilderness. Please note: there is no riding offered.

We have packaged our favourite camps with return charter flights and transfers from Maun to your selected lodge, with accommodation on an all inclusive basis. For the best game viewing experience it is recommended that visitors spend some time at a 'water' camp and some time at a 'land' camp. The focus at the water camps is on traditional Mokoro canoe safaris, whilst at the land camps the majority of activities are conducted in open, safari vehicles. Our recommendation is a total of 4 nights on safari with 2 nights at your choice of camp in each of these unique areas. We also offer combination camps where land and water based activities are available should you be short of time.
