Barra Lodge, Inhambane, Mocambique

Great location for sun, surf, sea and sand. Great snorkelling and diving. Some of the best beaches in the world. Staff are excellent. Locals are friendly. The resort is getting a bit tired (rooms are verging on tatty, pool is not very clean, etc.) Food is surprisingly good (with the odd exception of seafood, which was mostly very ordinary), drinks are expensive (but blame that on the cost of logisitics). Unfortunately driving is allowed on the beaches, so in season there are lots of vehicles driving up and down the beach. Transfers from the airport are a bit hairy because the lodge has entrusted it's very comfortable midi-bus with a rather enthusiastic driver. At least the bus has seat belts. Bring mosquito repellent and insecticide (the hotel does not provide these). Also bring a beach umbrella (these are not provided).

Hi Lize Thank you so much for the most efficient way in which you handled our booking for our amazing holiday!! We missed the snow in Jhb and spent such special time on that glorious beach and under water with the stunning fish!!! Have a great day and I'll certainly be in touch again for our next holiday!!
