Aquarius Lodge is situated in Bilene just 20 meters from the water. This quiet town, known as San Martino in the days of Portuguese Mozambique, is located on a hill overlooking the sprawling waters of the Uembje Lagoon. It is a massive body of about 8 km wide and 27 km long, plunging down to depths of 50 metres, but so shallow near the shores that it’s perfect for children.
Although the white sands and crystal clear lagoon make you feel as if you are in Greece, this is real Africa with rolling sand dunes, lush vegetation and just a boat ride away, the powerful breakers of the Indian Ocean.

3 rooms have 1 double beds and 1 bunk bed
2 rooms have 2 single beds and the other 29 have 1 double bed
What to do - Bilene Large numbers of water birds such as flamingos gather here in summer to pluck the spoils from the shallow fringes of the saline water. For the rest of the year, Bilene is all about sailing, diving, fishing, swimming and snorkelling.

Very nice accommodation and good food at a reasonable price. Awesome sights and very picturesque next to the lagoon.
Only problem is that the staff at reception need to learn ENGLISH and customer relations; then this would be an excellent choice for the average South African

The beach is full of broken glaas and rusted tins. Needs to be cleaned up.
As a lot of south africans are visiting Bilene the DSTV must be upgraded to include a varaity of channels.
Very bad maintenance of the rooms. The first one shown to us had a bad smell of humidity. The room where we stayed had a severe flooding in the bathroom. Maybe that is why the lodge is called Aquarius, one should bring mask, snorkel and fins to make use of the bathroom. Too expensive for what you get and note that breakfast is not included. We decided not to stay and moved to Chinguendele, much nicer place and accommodation by the Lake View Lodge.
