Simply the BEST place to stay in Franschhoek

During a recent trip to the Cape (Sept 04) I decided to book us a night in Franschhoek and came across Akademie Str Guest Houses. There were other possibilities in Franschhoek, and all I can say is I AM SO GLAD I CHOSE AKADEMIE STR!!!! If you want to stay in the most charming, delightful, awesome, peaceful and friendly surroundings, then Akademie Str is the place to go. I cannot stop raving about it to everyone I meet. We were treated like royalty by the caretaker, Susan Salt, who tended to our every need without hesitation, she is a fountain of information and makes one feel right at home. The breakfast, served in the main house's dining room, overlooking picturesque gardens, was out of this world. Within walking distance of EVERYTHING there is to see and do, it is idealy situated in a quiet street of Franschhoek. We stayed in "Vreugde" or "Joy", the "bachelors" garden cottage, and at an extremely competitive rate too I might mention! WOW, WOW, WOW, don't stay anywhere else in Franschhoek, but at Akademie Str. I can't recommend this place enough! We will be back, and this time for a longer stay.
