Begin your tour in Victoria Falls where you can try whitewater rafting, bungee jumping or visit the markets and the spectacular views of Victoria Falls National Park. We head to Chobe National Park in Botswana where we take a river cruise to watch elephants playing in and crossing the river only meters away.
This evening, take the opportunity to pack a small bag for your Okavango Delta experience. In the Delta you can photograph hippos and crocodiles from your Mokoro (dugout canoe) before we head to Khama Rhino Sanctuary where we will partake in a game drive. Our tour ends in Johannesburg. You can also choose to do this tour from Johannesburg to Victoria Falls.
Day 1 - Victoria Falls
Today is free for you to relax and explore the magnificent town of Victoria Falls. Take the time to visit the markets to buy some curios or you can participate in one of the many optional activities available here.
Day 2 - Zimbabwe - Victoria Falls - Botswana - Kasane
We depart Victoria Falls and head towards Kasane. Upon arrival at Kasane we set up camp on the banks of the Chobe River. This afternoon we enjoy a scenic sunset boat cruise in Chobe National Park. Elephants, Hippo, Crocodiles, Eland and many other creatures reside in Chobe so keep your cameras ready.
Day 3 - Maun
We drive through to Maun. On arrival we will pack small overnight bags and prepare for our 2-day expedition into the Okavango. The rivers leading to the Okavango Delta have no passage to the ocean and irrigate instead some 15,000 square km's of Kalahari Desert - forming the world's largest inland Delta.
Day 4 - Okavango Delta
During your time in the Delta we enjoy the best nature has to offer. We travel into the Delta on a large 4×4 vehicle - in high water season boats are used. We join up with some of the local people and set up our bush camp for the next 2 nights.
We go on nature walks and explore the Delta by mokoro traditional canoe (water level dependant). The Delta is truly spectacular and an unforgettable experience as the wild animals here are not used to people. Simply sitting and relaxing often results in rewarding bird or game viewing.
Please note: if you have not purchased the Activity Package you will stay at the campsite in Maun for the following 2 days.
Day 5 - Okavango Delta
Today we spend our time in the Okavango Delta, exploring the waterways by traditional mokoro (traditional canoe) and also explore the Delta on foot with our nature walk.
Day 6 - Nata
We leave the Delta behind us and travel east towards the town of Nata, near the Makgadikgadi Pans. The shady tree canopy surrounding the lodge is a hive of activity, with a bird feeding area and active water feature providing the bird watcher with the opportunity of viewing a variety of species from the comfort of the pool deck. The Helmeted Guineafowl, Crested Francolin, Yellow Hornbill, Pied and Arrowmarked Babblers, Glossy Starling, Meyers Parrot and Paradise Whydah are just some of the species you may encounter during your stay at the lodge.
Day 7 - Khama Rhino Sanctuary - Palapye
We leave Nata behind us and drive towards Palapye, located on the banks of the tranquil Lotsane River. We visit the Khama Rhino Sanctuary, a community based wildlife project, where we experience a game drive to view the protected Rhinos.
All tours come with an Activity Package. This is an optional additional payment that covers what we consider to be ‘essential activities’ on our tours and therefore this itinerary has been written with these items included in the day-by-day itinerary. Ideally we would include all of these, but not everyone can afford this.
