Itinerary

Day 1: Cairo Welcome to Egypt and the start of your holiday. Included transfer from Cairo airport, hotel check in. Overnight - Cairo Day 2: Pyramids of Giza & Saqqara Cairo - Dahab. This morning we venture to the Giza Plateau to explore the great pyramids and Sphinx in all their ancient glory. Cheops, Chephren and Mycerinus are the sole survivors of the Seven Ancient Wonders. The Hanging Gardens of Babylon are long gone, but the enduring pyramids have been attracting and mesmerising the hungry eyes of travellers since ancient times. Cheops (Khufu) is the oldest and biggest. It stood 146.5m high when it was completed in 2600BC. After 46 centuries, its height has only reduced by 9m! For a real Arabian experience, consider haggling for a camel ride. This evening we transfer to the Cairo bus station for our overnight bus to Dahab. Overnight - Bus (B) Days 3 - 8: Dive Dahab! Arrive Dahab. Meeting you at the bus station we will transfer you to your hotel. Later today we head down to our dive centre for introductions and start of your course. The next 5 days will be filled with a combination of theory and practical water sections. Diving in Dahab is essentially shore diving and some of the best places to practice those skills are only metres from our dive school’s front door. Overnight - Dahab Day 9: Dahab - Cairo Dahab - Cairo. Early this morning, bid farewell to Dahab and travel back to Cairo by public bus, arriving early this afternoon. Enjoy the remains of the day independently shopping and exploring Cairo. Overnight - Cairo Day 10: Cairo Onward transfer to Cairo airport. (B)

Notes

Diving in Dahab is essentially shore-diving. With few exceptions, you'll be driven by jeep along the coast to 'gear-up' at waters edge to start your dive. Dahab offers around 30 dive sites. Some of the best dive sites are located just a few miles north of Dahab and offer easy to relatively easy shore access. Eel Garden - Popular site for learner divers. Maximum depth is 17m with a sandy bottom. Good also for snorkellers. The Light House - Located just offshore at the Lighthouse in Dahab Bay, this site features a sloping reef extending north. The Bells - A cliff dive only for the relatively experienced. A true vertical wall, full of overhangs and fissures, with lots of swim-throughs and cavelets. Blue Hole - A dive site with the greatest attraction lying not in the blue hole itself, but on the rich sloping coral reef garden on the outer lip of the hole. Entry to the site is through a large lagoon in the reeftop! This lagoon is the 'blue hole'. Strict depth limit of 30m, except for those with technical diving certification. Popular spot also for snorkellers. Canyon - Takes its name from a long, narrow canyon which runs north to south from the shallow reef just offshore to depths of around 50m on the reef slope further out. Access to the site is through a shallow 3m lagoon a little way from the shoreline. RATES: Prices shown are per person travelling. 'Twin/Double' prices per person apply when there are 2 people travelling, sharing a room. The 'single supplement' applies for single travellers and needs to be added to the 'Twin/Double' price. Single travellers will have to book a single room for any pre and/or post tour accommodation that is required. Please note that you will need a PADI manual, which can be bought locally for USD$55-60 and you will also need to pay for your certification at the end of the course USD$48.
